Under 8’s -Saturday saw our team head to Oakey: Dan and the boys had a blast. Their defence was rock solid and their attack was on point. The boys are starting to show responsibilities for their structure. The boys that were nominated to be dummy half and first receiver were organising their team play and runners. Dan was very proud of all their efforts and attitudes. Outstanding players this week were Hayden, Raquille and Tremaine. And Trey captained the team with strength.
Under 9’s-Well, it was a game of swapsies again this week as the under 9s trialled Ambrose under Kevin today, with Tae-Lyn playing with Darren’s team. Single tries went to Brodie, Joseph and Lucas, with Alex scoring a double. All the boys were a powerhouse today. They pushed through their tackles and supported each other for the offloads. Lucas and James led the run count with Tyler, Declan, Fabian, Harry, Cooper and Caleb all going strong in the tackle count.
UNDER 10 -While only taking one side out to the bears. Both teams played a terrific game with bears coming in with a win. Great effort from Luke, Jack H, Tom and George and the pocket rocket Hoppy leading the way with brilliant tackling and impressive line speed. Well done Roosters coach Tim and staff
11/12 Dev Cup – We are so proud of the boys and how they’re coming together. They never give up when things are getting tough, our plays are coming along well. Keep it us boys, you are doing us proud.
Under 12’s- What a fantastic game of footy! The first half saw our Roosters come out strong and playing to win. Whilst Oakey’s defensive line seemed impenetrable, our boys were determined and they managed to score 2 tries, which were successfully converted. However Oakey hit back quickly and scored a try, which left the first half score at 12-4 in favour of Valleys. The second half saw our Roosters come out fired up even more! The Valleys defensive strategies kept Oakey away from the try line for the whole second half. Our Roosters line of attack was incredible and they managed to score another try. The well-deserved win went to Valleys with the final score being 18-4. It was terrific to see the boys come together as a team and put everything they’ve learnt at training into practise and finally come away with the win!
Under 13/14 dev cup.
Thanks to all the boys that made the trip to Oakey. We went down in what a see sawing game. The boys put in a great effort in attack. We know that our defence let us down. Thanks to all the under 14 boys for their extra efforts in guiding the younger boys around the field. Thanks Chris
Youth Cup 15/16’s – Well done boys on a great win against Oakey. Thanks to Oakey for a great game. Boys you are all working well as a team and your on the line defense during the game was outstanding. Your team commitment and work on your set plays during training are paying off and it was a real privilege to watch you play on Saturday. Go the Roosters. Chris
VALLEYS V KINGAROY 16s -This week we travelled to Kingaroy for the first time. We were a bit flat in the first half and just couldn’t get our rhythm, as a result the halftime score blew out to 30 nil to Kingaroy. We came back after the break with more determination and finally things started to click, and while we put on 24 unanswered points in the second half a 30 point lead was a bit too much to chase and the final score ended up 30-24 to the red ants. Well done boys on coming back strong, even though we didn’t get the points it was a great finish to a tough game. Craig
