Team Write Ups v Brothers 3rd August 2019

Under 6’s
What a smashing effort under 6’s put in against Highfields this weekend. We had just
enough players for a team & they all put in 100%. It was a fantastic game to see. No injuries & no-one wanting to leave the field for a sit down. I’ve watched this team mature &
improve so much this season & I am so proud to be a part of it. Rissa

Under 7’s
Over the weekend U7’s had three games, Friday night we went to Souths, the team had lots of
fun and really played well, team spirit was amazing.
On Saturday we had two games against Brothers my team played like Champs they held Brothers up and stopped quite a few try’s. Thanks to Dan for taking my other team! Too many stand
out’s to be named so well done team.

Under 8’s

Under 8’s had 2 fantastic games against brothers on the weekend. The team’s tackling skills are
getting better and better every week. Great to see the team learning to talk to each other out on
the field! Great game had by all!

Under 9’s
Game 1
Great game of footy against Brothers that were a much bigger side our team matched them and
played very well. Some big tackles were made one especially by Jannali, huge effort to take the
biggest player on the field down! Good job It was very warm conditions which was a little tough
on the Roosters.
Coach: Darren O’Neil

Game 2
Great game by our under 9 Roosters against a very aggressive Brothers side. With only 1 sub on
the side line it was a great test for our little Roosters. Our Roosters dominated from the start to
the finish on the score board. Harry Pollard having his game of the year with breakthrough tackles. Kingston Mau over powering the aggressive Brothers players and Jimmy getting his first hat
trick. The Valleys crowd was loving every minute of the dominating performance.
With a superb show from all the Roosters players.
Another great job Roosters.
Coach: Michael Wilkinson

Game 3
The under 9’s had a fantastic game on Saturday. Great rucking work saw Valleys cross for tries
multiple times. Good team work in defence brought down some much bigger kids in tackles and
kept Brothers to a low score. Skills that have been practiced at training were put to good use,
good game everyone…
Coach: David Carey

Under 11’s

On Saturday we took on Brothers in a very entertaining under 11’s game. They boys are really
starting to play some great footy. In attack we are really running with purpose and passing the ball
to a player in a better position. Our passing and catch skills are really improving each week. Which
led to a couple of great tries by Charlie Barnes and Kaellan Duncan. In defense we continue to get
a little bit better all the time. It was great to see some great tackles from Jack Allen and Chevy
Ryan. Overall it was a great game played in a great spirit against a good little Brothers side. Keep
up the good work boys.

Under 12’s
Another great defensive game from the boys against Brothers on Saturday, Holding them to 3
tries was a great effort with 6 players unavailable
Thanks to the DC boys for stepping up for us. Special mention must go to Jacob Gavin who had his
best game of the season.
Thanks Lee, Jacinta and Harry

Under 12 Girls
The U12 girls played a good game against Highfields. Some brilliant runs and tries by the girls.
They are improving and getting better every week. Great to watch.

Under 13’s
We took the park against Brothers this week and had a hard game. Valleys came together as a
team defending and tackling well.

13/14 Dev. Cup
Thank you! Thank you to the under 14 premier only players handling the last minute cancellation so well. Thank you for getting to the grounds so quickly Under 13/14 players and parents
who were still not required at the field for another 40 minutes. We’ve had some curve balls this
year but with the help and support of all our players and parents working together nothing is too
difficult. We started the game well in attack although we probably could’ve stuck a bit better and
moved together in defence a bit more. The second half was excellent everyone defended well together and the attacking plays were great. Have fun boys that’s all we want you to do keep enjoying your footy. There’s been some huge improvements in each and every one of you this year and
we are very proud of you all.

Under 15’s
34-10 to Brothers
Friday night was disappointing for our team on many fronts. However our resilience as a
team is still as strong as ever. While we continue to deal with a great deal of adversity we
have never relented in our games and still turn up an compete. Brothers completed very
well with only 2 mistakes in the match and with their big men getting they sort of time
with the ball they were too strong. We are still very much in the competition and with a
few weeks of no games and some more time to look to our game in order we can still win
this competition,
Thanks Josh and Barb

Under 16’s
What a courageous effort boys to only go down by 10. Our defence was definitely tested with
only 11 boys on the field for a large portion of the second half. We stuck together and backed
each other up – So proud of our entire team!
