Team Write Ups 4th May v Highfields

Under 7’s

U7’s went to Highfields on Saturday they all played like a team and should be proud of themselves, shout out to Rowen so confident in himself and it showed! Well done mate, this team has set a high standard for themselves. We have a few knew players this being there first year playing and they are doing great all running forward. Let’s bring on the next game

Under 8’s

Under 8’s had a cracker of a first round this weekend against Highfields. The team really started to gel, we all noticed such a big improvement from their trial games. Most importantly they all had giant smiles on their faces and energy to burn!! They never seemed to get puffed! Had some great sets of six with everyone getting plenty of ball time. Cant wait to see these guys grow!!

Game 1 & 2

Today we travelled to Highfields. We played a very strong side, with lots of hard running and big hits from both teams which tested our boys defensive skills. After the first quarter the team adjusted their defence structure to hold Eagles attack. The little Roosters were able to make some good tries with a few breaking the line. The team worked with determination realising a game can be won from great defence. Jannali, Oliver, Kingston and Nash all ran the line straight. Everyone is starting to gel well as a team and defence was a highlight in both games.

Coach: Darren O’Neil Our 3,2,1 points for this week go to: Game 1 Jannali, Kingston and Jace; Game 2 Oliver, Kayden and Callum

Game 3

Wow 2nd game of the year on the weekend for our under 9 Roosters against the always strong and tough Highfields Eagles. The rain managed to just hold off until a few minutes before full time. Our Roosters fought hard through the whole game to get the win. With Harry, Oliver and Rhys running harder than ever the whole game, gave space for Caden, Nikko, Jannali and Sheileen to get Jimmy and Quade over the line to grab 2 tries each. The team as a whole looked fantastic with always at least 2 in each tackle, slowing down the fast paced Eagles. So many good hard runs & hard tackles. Multiple try saving tackles once again by the whole team. Awesome job kids as always, everyone enjoyed the show.

Coach: Michael Wilkinson Our 3,2,1 points for this week go to: Jimmy, Quade and Rhys

Under 11’s

The U11’s played Highfields in wet and slippery conditions. Highfields had a full strength team and the Valleys boys played some really good football in the first half. Unfortunately, in the 2nd half due to conditions, injury and no reserves, some costly mistakes and fatigue set in and saw the boys having to defend a number of repeat sets in their own half. The boys defence was continually tested and they can be proud that the work they have been doing at training was obvious. There are a number of positives the boys can take away from this tough match. All the boys wish Tyler Yuide a speedy recovery and will miss his solid defence in the middle while he is on the sideline.

Under 12’s

On Saturday saw the under 12 playing in the rain against Highfields. The boys were outstanding for there first game of season. We would like commend the boys on there hard work though out the game and kept there head high when the going got tough.
Great job Lee & Jacinta.

Games on wet windy days against a strong side are easy to lose and challenging to win. We were lucky enough to train in the rain this week which only contributed to a near perfect game in tricky conditions. We’ve had a long pre season and this win is a great stepping stone for the season. Congrats team on a great hit out with a greasy ball.

13/14 Dev. Cup

Thanks to Highfields for putting together a team so all our boys could have a run. It was great to see all the players new and old play together as a team. These games are best played in the right spirit and this was certainly one of the best we’ve seen. Congrats on a great first game it’s going to be great watching you all develop as players this year.

Under 15’s

Tough game by both teams but unfortunately we were defeated by Highfields 22-16 with a try from Highfields on the final buzzer. Hugh effort by our boys this week. We were lucky with injuries last week not being to bad not so lucky this week, Reuben has broken his arm and needed surgery to fix it, we wish him a speedy recovery. This weeks tries were scored by #1 Ysrail Martika, #8 Jack Byrnes, #9 Logan Weirbone & #11 Cole Hohn.
Also Congratulations to Kooper Diment, Dom Whittingham, Jordain Beezley & Blake Gill for representing in the DD matches over the weekend,
Thanks Josh & Barb

Under 16’s

Disappointing performance at the weekend with a big loss – we were outplayed with enthusiasm and a disciplined team game plan. It will be a good learning curve for us and we will regroup over the next two weeks and learn to play as a team. We may not have the biggest team is size however we have big hearts and a strong team bond to build on.

Under 14 Girls

Valleys 14 girls put in a great effort Friday night against a strong Kingaroy side. Our girls showed encouragement and gave their best all the girls should be very proud off themselves. They dug in to come and tie the game. Every week we are getting stronger.
