Thank you to Highfields Eagles (U8’s) for organising 3 teams for Saturday’s game, your efforts are greatly appreciated. This extra game meant for an early start with the first team having to make their way to Highfields for a 7.45am run-on which most did with ease.
Game 1 – Great game for our little U8’s Roosters against the Eagles going try for try until half time. Roosters really looked good keeping their line and filling in the gaps without prompting most of the time. Lots of quality tackles and working well as a team each week. Completion rates not quite as good as the week before. Sheileen really gaining some confidence with running up the ball.
Coach: Michael Wilkinson
Man of the Match – Jax Robinson
Player’s Player – Sheileen Tatow-McIntosh
Game 2 – It was a great game with all of the team putting in a fantastic effort, especially for so early in the morning! Max and Jack pulled off some great cover defence and the whole team is really starting to work together. I really want to say thank you to Highfields for making sure they could field 3 teams for us to play.
Coach: Charles Howe
Man of the Match – Max Carey
Player’s Player – Jack Sharpe
Game 3 – We had a full team up against the Highfields Eagles for the 3rd game, some of the Highfields team had backed up earlier but still they put up a massive fight against our Roosters. Everyone played well as a team, taking it in turns to run the ball, playing off each other and scoring some breakaway tries. We saw some awesome tackle work on the sideline gaining penalties for Valleys and the determination and dedication of the little fellas taking on the big kids up the middle, hanging off them until they fell to the ground was great to watch. Thank you to Highfields for a fun and challenging game.
Coach: Darren O’Neil
Man of the Match – Conor Gilberd
Player’s Player – Jay Cook

Today we played a well drilled Highfields side. The boys showed good determination. Phoenix Sharpley was very good in cover defence. Hunter, Jack, Will and Coby tried hard all game. The boys handled the constant rotation of players very well with only 2 sides, thanks boys.
The boys had a pretty even match up against Highfields there was some great defence from our boys our line is starting to look how it should and the boys are moving up together we have a few little attacking plays which will get better the more we practice thanks again to all the boys for putting in the effort at training starting to pay off.

We travelled out to Highfields this week for 2 very competitive under 10s games. In the early game we showed some real commitment in defense and moved up really well in a straight line and made some great tackles. In attack we ran with some purpose and score some entertaining tries led by 3 to Jack Allen who really took the line on. In the second game we came up against a determined Eagles side who caught us a bit off guard in the first half. Once we started to move up in defense led by Tyler Barton who is really improving with his defense we start to find some momentum and some great runs from the Beast Charlie Barnes we finished the game well.

Today we took on a very committed Highfields team. Even though the boys tried hard, we couldn’t get the points. We need to work on our defensive line speed and cut down the basic errors.
In a losing side our best 3 players of the day were Declan Reen, Lucas Slater and Sam Lorenz.
Thank you to Matt and Blaine for Coaching and running water in Bryce and Brett’s absence.

The Roosters played well in a tough and entertaining contest
Our attack got better as the game progress with our defense standing solid resulting in a draw against a good Highfields eagles side.
Many good performances
Great stuff.

Today we play a very committed Highfields team. Even though the boys worked well as a team in parts of the game some errors let us down. Looking forward to working on these at training.

A hard fought game including an impressive first half on Saturday proved our training runs are working well. Our defence and attack were both strong in the first half although we seemed to lose momentum in the second half, everyone continued to work as hard together as a team and the coaching staff are proud of you all. We are the only ones who know our end goal and this game proved we can lift and we are getting there. We will continue to build from here to work towards it.

Thanks to brothers for coming to Highfields for an opposed training run. It was great to see all the boys working together again and enjoying playing different positions. With not many teams in this age group it’s a testament to the great clubs of the TJRL that can organise these extras games so everyone can have a run most weeks.

This afternoon, our remarkable U14 Roosters took on a challenging Highfields U14 team at Highfields, and what a gruelling match it was! In the 1st half, the game was neck to neck as both teams had scored 2 tries each. Highfields managed to successfully convert both their tries and at the end of the first half, it was 12-10 in favour of Highfields. In the 2nd half, our awesome Roosters stepped up and took control of the game in both attacking and defensive tactics and in the end, it was Valleys 26, defeating Highfields 22.
Rooster tries went to Domenic Whittingham, Rueben Tatow, Kooper Diment, Deshaun Blades and Jordain Beezley, with successful conversions to Domenic Whittingham (2) and Kobi Carr.
Thanks for a fantastic game boys and we’ll see you all at training on Tuesday.

This week we took on Highfields. The boys were on song from the beginning running in a few quick tries. Was good to see the boys executing the plays they have been practicing at training. The boys didn’t’ let there foot off and closed out the game early in the second half. It was a great team win. Back to training this week to stay on top of our game.
