Congratulations to all under 13/14 development cup players from both Valleys and Oakey on the game and performance each player put in to produce the game of the day at last weeks Presidents Cup.
We got away to a great start scoring two early tries, we then watched on as Oakey scored a few great tries down our left and appeared to be away.
We worked hard though to steady the ship.
A wonderful effort by Drenzell off a scrum got us back into the match.
With 22 players and everybody getting a run, we kept the pressure on and Kyle Thompson took the line at halfback and was able to take us to the lead.
To Oakeys credit, they again surged and scored which left us locked up at full time.
The entire side defended like true Queenslanders for the first part of extra time as we withheld Oakey for 3 sets on our line.
A great drop out by a Chris got us out trouble.
Then on the third tackle after a strip we got a penalty.
The boys looked around as to what to do. Take a Tap. But our gun kicker KT said I’ll kick this.
And so it was that for the first time in my involvement in Junior Sport a game was decided by a penalty kick.
I could not be prouder of my players. Great game and great win. Thanks to Oakey for such an awesome game.
